In the health spending bill signed into law just yesterday, the key congressional Leadership and Committee staffers who wrote the bill engaged in a modern-day example of the corruption of power — they exempted themselves from the requirements that would apply to other congressional staff and, in fact, to Members of Congress themselves.
Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa today will offer an amendment to strike this Leadership and Committee Staff Carve-Out during consideration of the reconciliation bill. Please call your Senators at (202) 224-3121 and urge them to support the Grassley Amendment to strip out the Leadership and Committee Staff Carve-Out.
When Thomas Jefferson wrote "All men are created equal," he meant that laws should apply equally to everyone — and that no one was "more equal" than others.
